What multivitamin do you recommend for a menopausal woman? I currently take a comparable to Centrum Silver. I understand that Folic Acid is not recommended at this later age. I also take a calcium with vitamin D supplement with the vitamin. I did not see such a vitamin on the website, only a pre-menopausal vitamin. Thank you.

Sharon,

Menopausal symptoms: These include fatigue, depression, weight gain, osteoporosis, reduced sex drive, vaginal dryness, and hot flashes. While optimum nutrition often helps relieve these, many women respond to small amounts of natural progesterone used as a cream. This is available over the counter in a drug store. Supplementing vitamin C with vitamin E and bioflavonoids may help reduce hot flashes. Also important for this and other symptoms, including vaginal dryness, are sufficient essential fatty acids, which make the prostaglandins that help balance hormone levels. For prostaglandins to work, sufficient vitamin B-6, zinc, and magnesium are required.

Supplements: Take a good daily multivitamin and multimineral such as our Daily multi vit./multi min. formula. Follow instructions on the bottle. http://www.lalifestyle.com/daily-multivitamin-mineral-tablet-100s-p-41.html

Take extra vitamin C with bioflavonoids such as our vitamin C 1,000 with rose hips. Take 1 tablet per day. http://www.lalifestyle.com/vitamin-1000-mg-with-rose-hips-tablet-100s-p-85.html

For bone health you should take extra vitamin D, calcium, magnesium and zinc such as our calcium-magnesium complex . Follow instructions on the bottle. http://www.lalifestyle.com/chelated-calcium-magnesium-complex-tablet-100s-p-90.html

To help balance hormone levels take omega-3 and omega-6 capsules such as our omega 3, 6, 9 formula. Follow instructions on the bottle. http://www.lalifestyle.com/maximum-strength-triple-omega-369-softgel-90s-p-181.html

You should take folic acid at any age to help lower homocysteine levels. Elevated homocysteine levels can increase the risk of many diseases such as heart disease. I would take extra folic acid with vitamin B-12, look for one with 800 mcg of folic acid with vitamin B-12.

Above, I’ve provided you with links to our products. Check with your Doctor If you are under Doctors care.
